I’ve been doing lots of background spreads lately, and I’ve ended up with lots of different looks.

All these three are done with watercolor waxes and watercolor pencils in different colors. When you look at the pages in person you can definitely tell the difference between the matte watercolor pencils and the shinier watercolor waxes.

These are both acrylics, giving the pages a much heavier, opaque look. When you mix the two mediums you get pages that look like this:

The photo doesn’t do the page justice, this stuff is completely matte. It’s the color I imagine a black hole is, where no light escapes… very fun for playing around with 🙂
